Dr. Alfredo Bautista
Co-Chair
Dr. Alfredo Bautista is Associate Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Early Childhood Education at EdUHK. His research focuses on teaching practices and teacher professional development. Before joining EdUHK, he worked in Spain, Canada, United States, and Singapore. Alfredo is the Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Journal for the Study of Education and Development’. He serves as Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of other five international journals. He is the Chair of the Organizing committee of InSuDoc2024.

Dr. Jenny Chan
Co-Chair
Dr. Jenny Yun-Chen Chan is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining EdUHK, she received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and conducted research in Learning Sciences and Technologies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Chan’s research examines the mechanisms and cognitive processes involved in mathematical development. Her work focuses on the effects of (a) perceptual and embodied features in the environment and (b) cognitive, affective, and social factors on mathematical learning. Currently, she collaborates with stakeholders to study their interactive effects on mathematical development.

Dr. Derwin Chan

Dr. Derwin Chan is an applied social psychologist with diverse research interests in the areas of health education, sport and exercise science, and behavioural medicine. He is an Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education at the Education University of Hong Kong. He is appointed as the Editor-in-Chief in Stress and Health, Executive Editor in Health Psychology Bulletin, and editorial board member in 6 scholarly journals.

Dr. Eric Kong
Member
Dr. Eric Kong has obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education. As a musician and music educator, his research interests are centered on the sociology and psychology of music education, as well as music in early childhood education and teacher education. With his practical experience as a music educator, he has recently authored a book titled "Cultural Capital and Parental Involvement: A Comparison of Students' Music Participation between Beijing and Hong Kong", which has been published by Springer.

Dr. Jana Valdez
Member
Dr. Jana is an assistant professor from the department of Early Childhood Education of the Education University of Hong Kong. She finished her PhD in Educational Technology from the University of Hong Kong. Her research program encompasses two research areas which are positive psychology and educational technology. Specifically, she studies how positive emotions (i.e. gratitude) can contribute to students’ learning and well-being. She also explores teachers’ ICT competence beliefs and its implications to technology integration in education. By integrating her two research areas, she develops online positive psychology interventions. She also studies digital well-being and digital citizenship among children and adolescents.

Dr. Jianbin Li
Member
Dr. Jianbin Li received his Ph.D. (cum laude) in developmental psychology. His research interest centers on child and adolescent development and teachers’ well-being. He has published over 80 papers on peer-reviewed journals, such as Perspectives on Psychological Science and Review of Educational Research. He is now serving as editorial member for several journals such as Learning and Individual Differences and Stress & Health. He is recognized as Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science (APS).

Dr. Weipeng Yang

Dr. Weipeng Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the Education University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on advancing the sciences and practices of learning in early childhood. He is the Editor of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education (JRCE).

Dr. Xiaozi Gao
Member
Dr. Xiaozi Gao is a Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong and a member of the Centre for Educational and Developmental Sciences. Her research focuses on family studies, parenting behaviors, and child development, with particular emphasis on parent-child interactions and early childhood education. She received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from The Education University of Hong Kong. Dr. Gao's current research investigates how environmental factors like household chaos influences children's socio and cognitive development and family well-being.

Mr. Eric Cheng
Mr Eric Cheng is an assistant project manager with solid experiences in integrated marketing communications and event management, who mainly provides support in regard to internationalization, community engagement and research for the Department of Early Childhood Education at EdUHK.

Ms. Sofie Chua
Ms. Sofie Chua Shuyi is a senior research assistant with The Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. Her main work involves supporting the internationalization efforts of the Department through facilitating Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) activities.

Ms. Yana Cheng
Yana Cheng is a research assistant at The Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. She has been providing support in digital media, graphics design and web development.
